2020 Explorer

New and Improved

The 2020 Ford Explorer is here and it is ringing in a new decade of Ford vehicles with a bang! The already popular model was stripped down to it’s frame and redesigned from the ground up on a brand new platform. More spacious, safe and powerful than ever before, the 2020 Explorer has been the talk of the showroom here at Pineridge Ford. New standard rear-wheel drive makes this mid-size SUV handle with confidence on everything from flat stretches of Saskatchewan highway to rugged northcountry terrain. Inside, you’ll find an airy interior that can comfortably seat up to seven passengers, with plenty of cargo space to store everyone’s gear. Sleek yet bold exterior styling, complete with the famous Ford grill and emblem, lets everybody know that whether you’re picking up the kids from soccer practice or hauling your camper into the Tobacco Root Mountains for a weekend of adventure, your Explorer is built Ford tough.

Anatomy 101

The 2020 Ford Explorer has been rebuilt on an entirely new platform, including a longitudinally-mounted engine and new standard rear-wheel drive. This gives the Explorer exceptional handling and improved towing capacity, not to mention this new frame configuration allowed for the interior to undergo a major overhaul. There are multiple engine options available in the Explorer, including a new fuel-efficient and peppy turbocharged four-cylinder, which allows you to truly customize your ride. While all of the 2020 Explorer models boast some serious power under the hood, the all new Explorer ST is the most powerful Explorer to date with an available 400 hp and 415 lb.-ft. of torque.

“It may look like a modest step forward from its predecessor, but there's a lot going on underneath that makes this transformation more significant than it appears.”

Taking Safety Seriously

All Ford models stand out as some of the safest vehicles on the road thanks to Ford’s Co-Pilot 360, which uses driver-assist technology to be your extra set of eyes, ears and reflexes on the road. With a massive suite of standard safety features, you can feel confident that the 2020 Explorer is doing it’s part to keep drivers, passengers and pedestrians in Saskatchewan safe. Take a peek at just a few of the ways that Ford is using innovative tech to make drivers more confident and our roads safer than ever:

Automatic Emergency Braking

Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking can scan the road ahead and alert you to potential collisions, even applying emergency brakes if you don’t take action.

Blind Spot Information System

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert can detect and alert you to vehicles in your blind spot or behind you.

Auto High-Beam Headlamps

Auto High-Beam Headlamps are designed to brighten and dim automatically, so that you can concentrate on chatting with your kids after school or your friends on a road trip.

Ford’s intelligent Lane Keeping System can scan the lines on the road and alert you if you are veering out of your lane. If it happens repeatedly, a coffee cup icon will appear on the dash to let you know that it’s time for a break. Now that’s a car that cares!

Tech with Benefits

Not only is Ford’s tech innovation keeping people safe, but it’s also adding a high level of convenience and luxury to their driving experience. With FordPass, you have a huge range of apps and services available right on your smartphone, so you can do everything from contact roadside assistance in an emergency to find a place to feed the kids during a long road trip - which, in our opinion, could also be considered an emergency! In the 2020 Explorer, you’ll also find a beautiful and easy-to-use LCD touchscreen console, Apple/Android CarPlay connectivity, a host of hands-free bluetooth features, wireless charging ports throughout the vehicle and Waze navigation. Talk about a vehicle that can do it all!

“The switch back to rear-wheel drive makes sense on numerous levels. Handling and overall balance improve dramatically when you stop trying to steer and power a vehicle from the same end. There are also benefits to towing stability and powertrain selection. The new Explorer comes with Ford's smooth and sturdy 10-speed automatic, for instance. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Ford was able to expand the interior room in the bargain.”
