Halloween trick-or-treaters

Halloween is fun for everyone, but it’s really an occasion for the kids to let loose. It’s a night when children of all ages dress up in their favourite costumes and run around the streets of Meadow Lake hunting for candy. With our little bundles of joy out trick-or-treating, it’s only natural for safety to be top-of-mind. There are a lot of vehicles on the roads this time of year, so we thought it was a good time to highlight some of the advanced safety features available in new Ford vehicles. We hope they’re never needed, but if you’re ever in a close call or emergency situation, these safety features could save you or a trick-or-treater’s life.

Ford’s Advanced Safety Features:

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

You should always be paying close attention to the road while you’re driving, especially on Halloween night, but the world is full of distractions and there’s no such thing as a perfect driver. Ford's Pre-Collision Assist feature will notify you of a potential collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian, and if it detects an impact is imminent, it will apply the brakes in order to avoid an accident.

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)

While cars, trucks, and SUVs, have become marvels of engineering, the one thing scientists and engineers haven’t been able to eliminate is the pesky blind spot. Whether you’re on a highway or residential street, you’re going to need to pass a vehicle or get around an obstacle sooner or later. Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is an important feature available on new Ford’s that uses radar to monitor for any vehicles that may be in the your blind spot and notifies you when it’s safe to change lanes, or perhaps go around a car that’s waiting to pick up a few goblins and ghouls after a long night of searching for candy.

Cross-Traffic Alert

Backing out of a driveway or parking spot can be the most precarious point of your driving day. Reversing while trying to keep an eye out for pedestrians and other vehicles isn’t always easy, but Ford now offers you a helping hand. Cross-Traffic Alert notifies you if there is anything behind or approaching your vehicle while you’re backing up. On Halloween, kids all over Saskatchewan will be focused on trick-or-treating not vehicles backing out of driveways, so when you’re leaving your home have your head on a swivel, even if you are driving a Ford with Cross-Traffic Alert.

These are just three of the many advanced safety features available in Ford’s latest lineup of vehicles. Remember that some features are only available on specific trim levels of new Ford vehicles. For more info, or to try these features out for yourself, feel free to contact us anytime.
